Why would I benefit from counselling?
"Psychotherapy and counselling should make people aware of themselves and of the difficulties which they face. This then gives them the freedom to choose for themselves".
Professional counselling and psychotherapy available for all areas of Stockport, Tameside, South Manchester and East Cheshire. .
We are currently living in unsettling and uncertain times, where events and crises on an international level have impacts on a personal day-to-day level for us all. Such persistent uncertainty in our lives can lead to abnormally raised levels of anxiety, insecurity and fear. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, these were likely to arise from fear for your health and those close to you, the grief arising from bereavement, the strain of social isolation and the financial consequences of unemployment and loss of financial security. Many are still trying to cope with the social and financial aftermath of the pandemic, without the additional burden of the current cost of living crisis resulting directly or indirectly by the war in Ukraine.
You are in acute need of support but reluctant to burden friends or family because they may also be struggling their own pressures and stress.
If so, I believe that counselling would be of real benefit to you. Counselling provides an opportunity to explore feelings, values and purpose in a safe, confidential setting. At its best, counselling can help you to experience more meaning, contentment and fulfilment in life - it's always a good time to talk.
I'm Rory and I can offer you the encouragement and support you need to pause, reflect and become more aware of the possible origins of your difficulties. This may involve standing back so you can see the wood for the trees and/or zooming in to see the causes in detail. With your consent, I may invite you to connect with thoughts and feelings that you may have previously overlooked (or avoided), give you encouragement to do things differently, note the results and apply what you have learned about yourself.
